Critical Essays: Gay and Lesbian Writers of Color
Published in Paperback by Harrington Park Pr (April, 1994)
Author: Emmanuel S. Nelson
Average review score:

A brilliant, canonical text on gays and lesbians of color
This book is one of the first anthologies about gays and lesbians of color. If you can find a copy, do buy it. I found myself citing this book all the time for college papers. This book includes great articles about figures such as Audre Lorde and Arturo Islas. It has wonderful essays from up and coming academics such as Sharon Hom and Martin Manasalan IV. Even a decade after its release, this book will seem fresh and relevant. This anthology also does a great job of focusing on Latinos, Asians, and Blacks equally rather than tokenizing any group. Two big snaps for Critical Essays!

Cycling San Diego
Published in Paperback by Sunbelt Publications (September, 2002)
Authors: Nelson Copp and Jerry Schad
Average review score:

The cycling guidebook for SD
The origianl guide was written in 1986 and this most recent edition is updated wih revised and added trips for all levels of cyclist. The included tours are reworked and include great little maps that covers both mileage and elevation. This is key so that one knows what one is getting into before one attempts a tour, nothing worse than to have a destination with a grade beyond one's abilities or training level ! I have three different bike tour books for San Diego county and find Shad's to be compact and the easiest to understand. The suggetions and recomendations are priceless. The star rating is helpful with one being flat like Lake Murray to the more challenging Mt. Palomar climb being a four star ride. The rating system is not only based on grade but total mileage of the tour as well. Throughout the years I've used this book the most and break it out every now and then to get new motivation. You can even pack this one with you if so desired. With so many roads to ride in San Diego county it is convenient to have the book for reference . It is an inspirational colllection of rides from throughout the diverse landscape that will guarantee to get one out of the rut of doing the same rides. This is the guidebook that'll get you to places you've thought about riding, it's that extra push you've been looking for.Recommended for mountain and road cyclists of all ages and abilities as there is something for everyone in this handy little book.

Dance Book 2001

Authors: Thomas Laurence Nelson, N Wmedia E-Publishing, and Coupledanceworld

Breathtaking!!!
Dance Book 2001 is a treasure trove for professional and amateur dancers alike. After spending days and hours searching on the Internet and in various dance publications for "leg-up-pot-stir", I was able to locate it within seconds in Dance Book 2001. It is full of illustrations and it also contains a number of glossy full-page and full color STUNNING and BREATHTAKING images of dancers by the artist, Nancy Flores, that seem to jump out at you. The bottom line is: I highly recommend this book as a must addition to every dancer's library.

Dance, Sing, and Listen Series
Published in Audio Cassette by Dimension 5 (August, 1991)
Authors: Esther Nelson and Bruce Haack
Average review score:

The only way to get these wonderful albums????
If you're an educator or parent looking for good, imaginative stuff for your kids, this is it. If you're a Bruce Haack fan looking for the only way to get these long gone albums, then you have come to the right place! there are 6 tapes in all: Dance Sing and Listen (Vol 1-3), Dance to the Music, The Way Out Record (cassette), and the Electronic Cassette. I don't say "Record" on this one because it is different than the original Electronic Record. This version was rerecorded later on updated equipment. It's still good, but hopefully the originals are available on the Bruce Haack website (some are on the Listen, Compute, Rock Home compilation Cd as well.) All of these albums are absolutley amazing. The Dance Sing and Listen's are good, with lots of stories and songs. The really "electronic" phase begins with the Way Out Record, continues on the Electronic Record, and I think reaches it's most modern sounding peak on Dance To the Music. These last 3 alone are worth the price of admission, so if you need to own whatever Bruce Haack stuff you can get your hands on, then get dancin and singin and listenin and order this as quick as you can! Co Co the Coconut would want you to!

Dancing! (Sesame Street Elmos World)

A great lift the flap book for Elmo lovers
Our toddler loves this book. Particuarly the confusion between "flamingo" and "flamenco". Now when he sees flamingos in real life he says no and vigorously shakes his head. "Not the flamingo, the flamenco Dorothy" ;-)

Day Out With Gung Gung
Published in Hardcover by Little Tiger Press (31 October, 2002)
Authors: Ken Chin and E.M. Nelson
Average review score:

Absolutely adorable book
I love this book! The photos taken in San Francisco's Chinatown are absolutely adorable and precious. It captures that special relationship I had with my own Gung Gung (a.k.a. grandpa.)

My little daughter loves when my father reads her "Day Out with Gung Gung." I bought it for him three weeks ago and he loves to read it to her. Now she wants her own day out with her own "Gung Gung."

I just hope she doesn't say in San Francisco, since we live in North Dakota.

Death Watch: A Death Penalty Anthology
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall (27 July, 2000)
Authors: Lane Nelson and Burk Foster
Average review score:

Excellent Book
An excellent, educated and overview of the death penalty in the U.S. Particularly of interest since one of the authors (Lane Nelson) spent 8 years on death row and survived to become an articulate, educated and productive member of society (although still incarcerated LWOP).

Decisions in Doubt: The Environment and Public Policy (Nelson A. Rockefeller Series in Social Science and Public Policy)
Published in Hardcover by Dartmouth College (January, 1995)
Author: Wade L. Robison
Average review score:

A thoughtful analysis of decision-making
Robison provides a novel interpretation of the issues surrounding environmental policy-making, one which explains both why we make bad decisions, and what we can do about it. Combining both the institutional character of James Q Wilson and the rational approaches of many others, Robison describes how our past decisions influence our current thinking and choices through the creation of 'natural social artifacts.' I would recommend this to anyone attempting to tackle larger explanations of policy-making, and for anyone who has grown weary with fatalistic or conspiratorial approaches. The optimism in this book is commendable.

A Desert Gardener's Companion
Published in Paperback by Rio Nuevo Publishers (April, 2001)
Authors: Kim Nelson and Paul Mirocha
Average review score:

Finally, a practical guide for the desert
There has been a rush on new books about desert gardening lately, but most of them don't contain the secrets required to be successful. A Desert Gardener's Companion provides practical, only-learned-through-experience knowledge. In the manner of a confidante, it relays the intimate wisdom gained from a close, day-by-day relationship with a garden in the desert climate. With ecological explanations of why things happen, the suggestive advice makes good sense. This book could only have been written by a Master Gardener with a real love for their garden and the earth.

A Valuable book on Advertising Design
The book is devoted to the design aspect of Advertsing.

A very informative book, which contains sections on layout, art, production, broadcast advertising, et cetera.

One of the first advertising books I ever read and I still return to it from time to time.
